If you could invest £20k and bring real footfall back into your town, it’s worth paying attention to how it’s done.
Because you can.
Stockport didn’t need reinventing by a marketing agency to make it sing to the right people. And we bet your town doesn’t either.
It was already full of independent businesses, proper characters, culture, and creativity. The kind of place with stories baked into every street. The problem wasn’t the product. It was visibility.
So instead of creating something artificial, we turned the volume up on what already existed.
We found 33 independent businesses. Put them front and centre. Let them tell their stories. Cafés, shops, makers, grafters. No scripts. No polish. Just real people telling an audience why the place matters.
Then we built a visual campaign around it. Film, content, photography. Everywhere.
And people noticed.

Because when you celebrate the soul of a place properly, people want to be part of it.

What every BID should take from this:
- Start with what’s already good. You don’t need marketers repositioning your selling points. Your businesses are the story.
- Put people front and centre. Business owners, makers, locals. They’re more compelling and real than any campaign line.
- Champion proper independence and creativity. Celebrate your culture proudly. Even its quirky odd bits.
- Create momentum. Not flash in the pan moments. This wasn’t a one off. It kept going. Content, stories and visibility on repeat.
